There are two ways you can successfully update your iOS device to the latest operating system. But before you kick-start the process, make sure you prepare your device for the iOS 11 upgrade by first of all creating a backup and making sure you have enough space to download the update. The iOS 11 update requires about 2GB of storage.

Method 1

If you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can easily upgrade to iOS 11 directly from your device itself. You don’t necessarily need a computer or iTunes, just connect your device to its charger (to ensure there is no power failure), then go to Settings >> General >> Software update. iOS will automatically check for an update and prompt you to download and install iOS 11.

If you have a computer with iTunes, then you are lucky because it is faster updating through this means. It is quite faster than over the air.

The first thing you should do is to update iTunes to version 12.7 on your MacBook. To achieve this, open the Mac App Store and you will find the iTunes update waiting to be installed.

After updating your iTunes, now connect your iOS device. Click the iPhone or iPad icon in the top-left corner of iTunes, next to the drop-down menu for the various sections of your iTunes library. The next thing you will do is to click on Check for update >> Download and update. Simply follow the prompts and accept the terms and conditions, then all you have to do is to sit back and relax and allow iTunes to do the job for you.
