The owners of the popular chat app, WhatsApp, have announced that they will delete accounts of users who are making use of the unofficial versions of the app (WhatsApp Plus, and GB WhatsApp). In this article, I will be showing you how to restore chats from these alternative apps offered by third parties to the official WhatsApp if you are one of those making use of them and want to make a switch to the real WhatsApp.

The company stated that these unofficial apps were developed by third parties, violate their terms of use. This is simply because the security practices of these unofficial WhatsApp cannot be validated.
This led to the anno8ncment that they will temporarily suspend these accounts so that users cannot make use of the official app, if not, their accounts will be permanently terminated.
How to Switch to the Official Version of WhatsApp
if you are using one of the unofficial versions and you want to switch to the official version of WhatsApp, you must, first of all, save a backup copy of your chat history before transferring your account to the official version.

How to Restore Chat History from WhatsApp Plus to the Official WhatsApp
According to the company, in order to restore your conversations to the official WhatsApp, you should carry out the steps outlined below. Although, there is no guarantee that these steps will be successful, as it is not an official app.
- if you saved your chat history before now, it should be automatically transferred to the official version of WhatsApp.
- Download the official version of WhatsApp from Play Store
- Verify your phone number so the restore process can begin
How to Restore Chat History from GB WhatsApp to the Official WhatsApp
- Wait for the temporary suspension to end. The stopwatch will display the duration of the suspension
- From your GB WhatsApp, tap More options >> Chats >> Backup
- Go the settings from the phone >> Storage >> Records
- Locate the GB WhatsApp folder and select it
- In the upper right corner, tap Plus >> Rename. Then rename the folder to “WhatsApp”
- Download the official version of WhatsApp from Play Store
- Confirm your phone number
- You will then see a prompt on your screen which says “A backup was found”, then click the option “Recovery”.
