Have you ever wished you can display Google AdSense Ads in between paragraphs of your content on AMP? This was my wish the first time I installed AMP on my blog, but I was disappointed when I discovered I was stuck with the available ads display format; which was just “below post title” and “after post” when it comes to the body area of the page. The only available option which allows you to add your ads code anywhere within the post is “Advanced AMP Ads” and it will cost you an extra amount (seems $29) as it is a premium feature. Well, there is good news now, as in this post I will be showing you how to implement Google AdSense Auto Ads on AMP, and your ads will be displayed automatically in between paragraphs of your content as shown in the image below…and you know what? It is totally free.
Since the introduction of Google AdSense Auto Ads, many AdSense publishers are yet to make good use of this opportunity. Though they have implemented the auto ads on their desktop theme, they never knew it can easily be done on Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) too. I started using it on my AMP a few days before writing this post, and I have been enjoying the benefits in terms of increased earnings and lots more. Before I drop the tutorial on how to implement Google AdSense Auto Ads on AMP let me, first of all, give you an insight into what AdSense Auto Ads is all about for better understanding.

What is Google AdSense Auto Ads?
On Wednesday, the 21st day of February 2018, Google offered publishers an optional update to its AdSense system – The Auto Ads.
The Google AdSense auto ads use a machine learning system to choose the best ads to display and the best place to put them on publishers’ web pages. This is an aim of the company to add more artificial intelligence to its business, and potentially attract more publishers who wish to increase his or her advertising effort but do not have the time or other resources to manage them.
The AdSense Auto ads system was actually, silently announced and launched in a limited beta edition in September 2017, but now it is open for all AdSense publishers. From Google’s report, publishers that participated in the beta edition experienced an average revenue increase of 10%, with increases ranging from 5 to 15%.
The new thing about Auto Ads is that Google is taking the task of selecting the placements, thereby doing all the work of the publishers in terms of figuring out how many ads will be perfect on specific pages, where to put them, as well as what kind of ads will work best.
The use of the machine learning technique is quite interesting here because it does not only figure where an ad will be placed, it is also used to ingest analytics for how well that ad performs in order to teach the system how to place ads in the future.
The only downside (or potential pitfall) of the Google AdSense Auto Ads system is that it seems to decide how many ads it will place on a page. Something publishers could have more control over without it. I read a comment of a publisher in a Google forum where he stated that he has been a one banner publisher for a long and sees no reason of filling his post with numerous ads unit. The Auto Ads will categorically go against his will because he has no control over what amount of ads will be placed on his content once implemented. If you don’t care about this, then this is definitely not a problem for you.

If you are already using Page-level Ads on your site, the code will automatically be migrated to run with Auto Ads. This means you just need to go to your Auto Ads Global settings and choose the type of ads you want to display on your web pages.
Now let us move to the business of today, which is showing you how to implement Google AdSense Auto Ads on AMP so that ads can be displayed in between paragraphs of your content on AMP.

src=”https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-auto-ads-0.1.js”>
</script>
Place the amp-auto-ads ad code immediately after the opening <body> tag.
<amp-auto-ads type=”adsense” data-ad-client=”ca-pub-123456789123456″></amp-auto-ads>
