Is your Galaxy S22 phone refusing to turn on despite all your effort trying to switch it on? You are alone in this. But the good news is that the problem can be fixed. Though the Galaxy S22 is an amazing phone, there are still times it can get you frustrated. If your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on, I have compiled few fixes you can try out all by yourself.
How to Fix Galaxy S22 Won’t Turn on Issues
Before you proceed to any of the fixes explained in this article, you should first of all ensure that the Galaxy S22 has enough juice. The most common reason why your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on is because it ran out of power. Samsung has upped their game in the charging speeds department with the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra. These phones can reach up to 45W wired charging speeds. However, it is a must for you to have the compatible charger for the Galaxy S22.
If your phone does not turn on right away after connecting it to the charger, you should not be alarmed. Allow your Galaxy S22 sit connected to the charger for at least 30 minutes to an hour to ensure it has plenty of juice. After that, you can try to power the phone on once again.
Now, follow the fixes I explained below.

Force Restart Your Galaxy S22
If your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on, you might need to force it to restart. Phones are mini-computers after all, and sometimes, issues might make your phone to turn itself off. Follow the steps below if you want to force restart your Galaxy S22.
- Press and hold the “Volume Down” and “Power Key” at the same time.
- Continue holding the buttons for at least 7 seconds.
- When the phone vibrates and the Samsung logo appears, release both buttons.
You can also plug in a charger if your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on when you are trying to force restart it. This will ensure that some power is being supplied to the device, and it could help turn the phone back on.
Boot the Galaxy S22 into Safe Mode
Though the Galaxy S22 is an amazing device, there are times when an app could bring it to its knees. In the past, we have come across instances when a single app soft-bricked a phone. If this happens, and your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on, you can boot the phone in Safe Mode. To achieve this, follow the steps below.
- Press and hold the “Volume Down” and “Power Key” at the same time.
- When the Power Menu appears, touch and hold the “Power Off” button.
- Your phone will vibrate and a new menu will appear.
- Tap the “Safe mode” button.
Starting in Safe Mode essentially removes all of the extra hassles you normally experience, by providing a basic interface. By booting in Safe Mode, you are trying to troubleshoot potential issues without needing to take it to someone to look at it. But one step I recommend you should take is to check for any software updates that need to be installed.
- Open the “Settings” app on your Galaxy S22.
- Scroll down and tap “Software Update”
- Tap “Download and install”
- If an update is available, tap the “Install” button.
Once the update has finished downloading, your Galaxy S22 should restart automatically. Then, you will be taken back to the non-Safe Moe version of the interface so you can start using your phone once again.
Boot into Android Recovery
The last option I will recommend if your Galaxy S22 won’t turn on is to try and boot into Android Recovery. This is something you will find in every Android phone and it is integrated into the core operating system. If you want to access Android Recovery, follow the steps below.
- Turn your phone off, if possible. If not, press and hold the “Side” and “Volume Down” buttons until the screen is black.
- Once your phone is turned off, press and hold the “Volume Up” and “Side buttons” until the Samsung logo appears.
- After the Samsung logo appears, release the Side button, but continue holding the Volume Up button.
- From the Android Recovery interface, press the Volume Down button until “Reboot system now” is highlighted
Just to remind you, you will not be able to navigate the Android Recovery interface with your touch screen. Instead, you can only use the Volume Up and Down buttons, and use the Power button to make your selections.
