If you are a lover of dark mode themes on mobile devices, there is good news for you as Gmail has finally joined the bandwagon. Before now, the new feature has been on test mode but at the moment it is now official. In this post, I will be showing you how to turn on Gmail dark mode in Android and iOS devices.
With the latest version of Android and iOS, users can now apply a system wide dark theme across Google’s and Apple’s mobile operating systems. It is also important for you to note that the dark mode is not automatically applied everywhere, and a few popular apps (including Gmail) did not have a dark mode setting when Android 10 is shipped.
Like I said from the start, Google is now rolling out a dark mode setting for Gmail on Android 10 and iOS. The company is pushing out the update slowly (over a few weeks). So, if you do not have it yet, just chill for a while because it will get to you soon.

Dark Mode on Apps
Dark mode has been on high demand even before Google and Apple embraced it. The popularity of dark modes for apps was already on an increase for Facebook Messenger and the Slack and Reddit apps.
When you are using dark modes on apps, you can conserve a bit of your battery life and your phone’s screen will be easier on your eyes at night. Google first of all introduced dark mode on Android Pie update earlier this year, but the theme did not show up everywhere.
With Android 10, dark mode is much more widespread, and apps that use the default system theme will automatically adopt the new dark mode when you turn it on, thereby inverting dark and light colours. The latest version of Apple’s iOS also applies the theme broadly, from wall paper, widgets and notifications to calendar and messages.
