The iPhone 15 has a USB-C port, but it is limited to USB 2.0 speeds of up to 480 Mbps. This is the same speed as the Lightning port on previous iPhones. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also have a USB-C port, but they support USB 3 data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps.
To achieve USB 3 speeds on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, you will need to use a supported cable. Apple sells a Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable that supports USB 3 speeds, but it is not included in the box with the phone.
The reason why the iPhone 15 standard model has a slower USB-C port is not clear. It is possible that Apple is trying to keep the cost of the phone down, or that it is not yet ready to switch to USB 3 speeds for all of its iPhones.
It is also worth noting that the iPhone 15 does not support Thunderbolt, which is a newer version of USB that can support speeds up to 40 Gbps. Thunderbolt is not currently supported by any iPhones, but it is possible that Apple will add support for it in the future.
