The Nokia 3310 (2017), is a feature phone from the brand that might beat all other smartphones announced by HMD Global earlier this year (during the last Mobile World Congress 2017 held in Barcelona, Spain) when it comes to the number of units sold. There was an announcement that the phone will be launched in the United States of America by the end of this month. This means the Nokia 3310 (2017) US version will be available for purchase at the tail end of June 2017.
The phone was introduced as a 2G feature phone which have support for GSM networks only, but HMD Global promised to collaborate with carriers in the United States of America to find a lasting solution to the issue. Unfortunately for Nokia users in the US, EDGE coverage on GSM networks have issues in the country.
As a result of this, the Nokia 3310 (2017) US version might only work on T-Mobile network. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), recently approved a Nokia-branded mobile phone that goes by the model number TA-1037. Check the image below for confirmation.
Conclusively, HMD Global could decide to add 3G support to the Nokia 3310 (2017) US version and make it available through other carriers as well, but that will result to a higher price for the feature phone.
For those in the United States of America, what are your thought on the Nokia 3310 (2017) US version? I guess the anticipation amongst the brand’s users is still high just as it was when the phone was announced. Let us wait till the ending of June to see what the feature phone unfolds.
